Are all spiritual acts, sexual acts? ?

Unification with God, with your whole body; mentality, emotionality, and yes even sexuality. Is this why Song of Songs (Song of Solomon) is such a great discriptor of connection with God? (the best in the Bible in my opinion)

Unification with God or marriage to the Lamb is union in every way except very specifically sexual.  That is excluded with emphasis.  The physical love making between a man and his wife is only the best picture of worship when one is completely dedicated to the welfare of the other.  There is no selfishness, or sin, involved.  When you completely abandon your will for His, the LORD's will, you are a candidate for the marriage to the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.  This is because He has wooed you with His great love and you have come to trust Him explicitly.  You are submitted to His will because you know that in every way He will only require of you that which is for your best interest.

The Word of God says in Deuteronomy 6:



1  Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2  That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3  Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8  And thou (you) shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9  And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy (your) house, and on thy gates

Jesus Christ says that this is the greatest commandment.  You have read the requirements of love.  Jesus/ Yeshua said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."

There is the sharp contrast in the scripture of those who love God to those who would be unfaithful and betray the husband and be likened to whores whose lusts devour any shred of faithfulness.  Those who could have soared like eagles and renewed their strength become diseased in mind and body feeding as vultures on that which is dead and decaying, through their physical and spiritual fornications and adulteries.  There is only hope for them if they seek truth instead of like Satan, in great wickedness, twist the Word with private interpretation fostered by hate of the God who inspired it and by hate of the persons for whom it was breathed.

No. A simple touch, a light kiss, a word, even breathing is a spiritual act. The sexual act itself is spiritual as well and heightens the the senses to a spiritual plain, but only briefly. Our spiritual acts are daily things we do. Taking a shower or washing our body is a spiritual act showing our commitment to our deities for our attempt to be as they are. Saying greetings to someone you know or do not know. Listening to someone intently as they speak with you. Helping someone carry a heavy load to their car. Taking a walk. Cleaning dishes. All these things are spiritual acts. It shows that we appreciate the lives we have and those of others. An adrenal rush from any activity can bring you close to a spiritual awareness.

Don't get me wrong, the sexual act to attain a spiritual "high", is wonderful but when we focus only on the physical how can we aspire to the metaphysical?

my spirituality is a response to the quality event responsible for the direction of universal evolution - it is not a sexual bond at all. how could i possibly shag universal quality. Sexuality is ontological - a ridiculous assertion in my book. Sexuality only goes as far as the biological not the universal

Would the prophet Ezekiel have a problem getting a job at the Hustler Magazine? Most important Bible writers de facto admit that the destruction of Sodom was a mistake because Jerusalem turned out to be much worse than Sodom. I don't feel that praying is a sexual act, but I do feel there are some aspects that are related.  Jesus refers to a parable of 10 bridesmaids who are all quite desperate to get with the groom.  Much is made of a spiritual marriage.  

Now I really like s*x--some might say to a fault.  But I think that s*x is a pale reflection of whatever is stored for us in Heaven.  Also, you may notice that pursuit of s*x on earth is rather empty when not coupled with commitment, love and respect.  

Commitment, love, and respect are all spiritual matters that cannot be shown directly, and sexuality is but a symbolic gesture women use to show their husbands that they feel that for them.  

However, it is also the case that the bodies have a mortal hunger for s*x which might disappear once these matters of the spirit can be communicated in a direct fashion (rather than symbolically), without the sacrifices that s*x entails.

You should read 's*x God' by Rob Bell... He contends that our relationship with God and our sexuality are so interlinked it is very difficult to separate them:

We are sexual beings. This why s*x is part of everything we do here in this life.

But don't forget that Jesus said that there will be no marriage in heaven, therefore no s*x.  It will no doubt be better than s*x!  Eternal ecstasy?  Who can even begin to imagine or think what this will be like!  And some say it will  be boring in heaven?  I don't think so.
