  1. I remember when "COLOR was a major change. No it generally takes several years until people can afford the so called "latest" Trust me HD will be antique fast.

In the meantime all of the companies  will be earning a fortune selling box top receivers Thus they are in no hurry.

    God Bless You

  2. No you do not need to buy a new TV, if you subscribe to cable or satallite then you are fine right now and won't even notice a change.  If you use rabbit ears to get TV, then you will have to buy a converter box which will make your current TV work just fine after the Feb 17 digital transition.

Go to www.DTV2009.gov for a 40.00 coupon on the converter box.  Most stores are selling em for 40 - 50.00

Also not all channels will be HD, they just have to broadcast in digital (digital does not need to be HD) this will free up the analog signal that most emergency services uses.

  3. No, the law calls for the digital transmission of over-the-air broadcasts (antenna), NOT HD and it does NOT affect cable or satellite services. People with analog TVs and an antenna do not need to purchase a new TV. They can get digital converter boxes for a very reasonable price. You can also get a $40.00 coupon towards the purchase of these converter boxes through http://www.dtv2009.gov
