  1. I don't live in S'pore but spent some time there a couple of summers ago.  There was a hawker center near the YMCA that didn't seem franchised.

The clean, indoor hawker centers seemed to be more "franchised".  The open-air, less nice places had the better food.

Chicken murtabak with gravy was my favorite.from the hawker stalls.

  2. hawker centres are not the same. food courts are. look at kopitiam chains, banquet chains. they are the same. the previous poster has told you the some of the differences between hawker centres.

  3. No... some are better for certain foods

Adam Road: more muslim food oriented

    Ghim Moh: more chinese oriented

    Chomp chomp: more chinese food

    Newton : more tourist oriented

    maxwell road: long ques everywhere

  4. All are the same but the food they served are totally different.

  5. Most of the time they have the same food. But one thing i'm sure is that the places are different, and the people who cook the food are different too.
