Question:

Are all track shoes generally the same?

I'm in need of some track shoes (spikes). I do 100m dash and 800m, but I don't want to get two different pairs just because the races are different. So would I manage with a long distance type shoe for my 100m dash? The shoe is very cheap, by the way, seeing as I don't really need a top-notch type. It's called Adidas Titan LD. Thanks.

  1. I don't know much about the Adidas Titan LD, but seeing as you are probably an amateur runner at best, a pair of sprinting spikes should be fine.

The only real difference I know of is that the distance spikes have more padding at the bottom, so you aren't forced to be constantly running on your toes. In this case, that isn't too much of a big deal. You want to be on your toes for an 800m anyway, and they will only help improve your time.

My brother used a pair of sprinting spikes in his last 800m race and he PBd, so it's not too big of a deal.

  2. if it is a long distance type of shoe dont use it for the 100.... if u excel at the 100 dont do it....da shoes are made differently to excel in that type of race. if you can pull off the same time in sprint and distance spikes den go for it. but if you dont den no cuz it will hurt your performance
