Are all wireless routers created equal?

Hi, I'm going to set up a wireless network for my laptop soon. I have a 768k dsl connection from verizon (download speeds are about 90kbps at most). I'm thinking about getting a g router. Should I get a regular G router? Or should I consider "enhanced g" routers? Also, do some routers offer a bigger radius of coverage (basically, how far away you can be from the router and still be online)? How do I know which ones are better?

  1. A G router will be fine.  The problem with the Enhanced G is that it is proprietary, and will only work in enhanced mode with adapters from the same company.

A standard G router will cover a normal house if it is located in the right place, but your mileage may vary.

N routers are new, and have no problem covering a house.  They are also more $

Buy the one that is on sale or has a rebate - they all really are the same.  They all use the same chips, and all work to the same standard.
