I am changing light bulbs in my apartment and noticed that the ones I am taking out have a silver (aluminum) base. The ones I bought have a gold (brass) bass. Can I use the ones I bought? I think I remember my landlord saying something along the lines of the gold becoming too hot.

  1. nothing will change don't worry, they are all the same

  2. Should not be a problem inside.

In an outside environment  the dissimilar metals may start an electrolysis (get crusty) if moist.
