Ive got a Clio. Just bought new Tail Lights (Lexus style) They have the "E" mark. The space where the Indicator bulbs go, is clear, SO I thought I could just pop in amber bulbs.. However Ive seen a few bulb sets saying for show, not road. So are there bulbs I can use legally? Please help!! I cant find anything on the net!!

  1. Amber is fine whether on front or rear as signal lights, or side markers.  Back up lights are normally white or clear(acts like mini head lights)

  2. The only lights on a car that are amber are for right or left turn signalling. Anything else is illegal.

  3. amber or yellow bulbs are fine to use as rear turn signals....but not as brake or running lights in the rear of your car

  4. If you are fitting after market lights did they come with new bulb holder? If they did not and you are using your originals then orange bulbs will not fit as they have off-set pins, unlike clear bulbs.

  5. The U.K. lighting regulations refer only to the color of light which is emitted when in use, not specifically to the color of the bulb or the lens.

So as long as the units carry the appropriate approval marks, amber turn signals (front or rear) may be either clear bulbs behind an amber lens, or amber bulbs behind a clear lens, since both will show an amber light when on.

  6. your ok with amber bulbs in your lights as there the clear type....the warning you saw is mostly aimed at blue,or other none car light bulbs
