Are american camcorders compatible for UK tv systems and voltage?

  1. No.  American video is NTSC standard (at least until the new HDTV standards take over).  Britain uses the PAL system.  The 2 systems are not compatible, but you can buy relatively cheap converter boxes.

    The voltages are different, too.  In the US it is 120V.  In Britain it is 240V.

  3. Nope - the voltage is not usually a problem as they usually come with a charger that works worldwide - BUT UK is PAL and Camcorder will record in NTSC and not playback on some TVs and Videos.

  4. Most TVs in the UK are dual standard, so you can play back your footage from the camcorder.  If you plan to make DVDs, your DVD player will need to support NTSC too.  That doesn't mean it does a conversion, it just plays it - the TV handles the NTSC.
