  1. It's far more depressing for Canadians to be politically involved.

  2. Not until recently.  As far as our neighbors to the north are concerned, I believe the Canadians are involved in their country without even knowing how involved they are because it seems that they know mostly everything their Government is doing.  Whereas down here, ours tend to keep us in the dark about alot of things.

I heard this great saying from an interview of an ex-European government official (I will not disclose what country he represented.) when he said, "It's not so easy to lie to a country when the majority of them are educated."  And like him I believe that we Americans are all walking around in the dark.  We need to ask more questions & educate ourselves instead of just soaking up everything that is being told to us.

So the answer is, I think we are on our way it just took a while!

  3. Environment,Global Warming is an issue all parties in Canada have adressed to varying degrees. The NDP which stands for The New Democratic Party  has a Green stance. The NDP has criticised the Conservitive Party in person of Stephen Harper for not doing enough about it. Jack Layton was the name of a person running for election mentioned. People did not like The Liberal Party in B.C. in Canada so instead voted for the NDP. There is also a Green Party in Canada though very small compared to the others at the momment. People do turn out in Canada. People claim U.S. voters are not involved but that is not true. Many voters are in prison and cannot vote in The U.S. for this reason . That is if they are convicts. This was true at one time not sure about now. Shame put all those voted toward Solar Power it might happen in the U.S.A.

  4. I don't know, I am Not Canadian, but i would think because they aren't in any reall position to affect the world that apathy might be a major influence on participation, I mean what are their real issues, snow removal?  Deforistation?  America being a major player in the world our government is more likely to inspire participation due to the fact that inpacts our lives, and the world more aggressively.

    But who cares?

  5. They are, Canadians don't get as passionate about poltics. Our politicians are small time crooks, we're cool with them being small time and not the lex luthor mega villains that make it to the White House on occasion.

Although an election will be called this spring and for the 6 weeks of the campaign before the vote, there will be a s**+tload of political activity.

Lotta stuff to sort out. Got soldiers in Afghanistan, global warming, what to do with all our oil $$. Should be entertaining.

  6. No, we just complain a lot more and don't take action as much as we should.  (and protesting is more a form of complaing than taking action).
