Are animals smarter than us?

Are animals smarter than us? Are we just a little more evolved because, animals can sense things and all we rely on is instinct or have no worries. I think that we are just more evolved and if they had our intellegence they would be able to to be superior over humans.

actually, i think that every animasl is smarter than us in thier own way, remember, we are nothing but a part of the nature and the animal kingdom.

Than humans?  No.  Animals are not intelligent.  If deer were intelligent they stop getting run down on the roads.  If dolphins were intelligent they would not get rounded up and killed.

There is absolutely no way to measure intelligence in any animal except Homo spaiens.

Hopefully with the passage of time you will see the flaws in your logic.

Edit:  I see we have a self appointed do gooder that thinks he knows more than all of us.

this is an opinion question. so i'll give you my answer.

animals have sixth sences, but not all are smarter than us. and animals have different things that are superior to most humans.

elephants have the best memory of any mammal (including us)

dolphins have the ability to learn faster than most

the caracal and other cats big and small have wonderful hunting skills

the dogs specialize in group teamwork

deer and like have fantastic hearing

most hunting birds (falcon, eagle) have the best eyesight (being able to identify an animal and how quick it moves and the angle to attack it from 200 feet in the sky is just amazing[HD vision too])

and all animals have to sence of when a true storm is coming. humans lack this because we claim we can look at the sky and feel the temp. in the air and say, "oh, its only a thunderstorm". well, it happens to be that all the animals in the area have taken the best shelter 'cause guess what, its a tornado, and its comin for you.

we didn't evolve. there is no possible explanation that makes complete sence of how a geeko evolved into a hippo and the hippo to the cat and the cat to the monkey and so forth.

humans are smarter than most animals, but you don't take animals for granted. they have their ways of dealing with problems.

No animal is smarter than a human. Think about it. Can animals do algebra, rocket science, or program an I-Pod? Can they write, read, or study space? They  can not identify a verb, or even know that the Earth is round. Animals are not smarter than humans.

Animals are not smarter than human beings, if they were smarter, it would be them in our place!!

it's just that some of their abilities are better than human beings according to their habitats!

human beings are the most intelligent and are on top of the food chain!

Well it depends on what you mean by smarter. Humans are better at abstract concepts and problem solving than most animals, which are the typical criteria for intelligence. However, Squirrels can bury their food in the middle of a field, come back six months later and dig through three feet of snow to get the food cache without having to hunt around for it. I'm not that smart.

but for how most people are defining "smart", of course humans are smarter, it's our evolutionary niche. If other animals were as smart, we'd have a lot more struggling to survive and a lot less culture.
