Question:

Are anti-abortionists sensitive to questions pointing out their hypocrisy?

I see another question of mine has been deleted overnight. How come anti-abortionists are willing to deny millions of women a simple medical procedure, yet they don't like someone questioning whether THEY should be entitled to medical treatment?

For the record, I asked whether people should have to respect medical science to be entitled to be treated by medical science. Anti-abortionists disregard the facts regarding foetal development. Should they be able to cherry pick which bits of science they like the sound of?

I also asked whether it was right to deny (non life threatening) treatment to an anti-abortionist man who continually harassed hospital staff.

  1. excellant question. the hypocricy of anti choicers knows no bounds. most of them are motivated by religion which overrides rational thinking.

  2. Helm, My brother is g*y and were both against abortion!

  3. Because they don't care HOW it happened. It's HER fault that it did happen - no matter what the circumstance.

It is a means of controlling others who make a difficult decision, and using shame and guilt to make it worse.

I don't want anyone involved in my s*x life other than my boyfriend, and I don't understand the need to be told what I should do in a situation such as this.

  4. Anti- abortionists. I don't think people should bring un-wanted children into the world. How would you feel if you were just an inconvenience, and your parents resented you? Why put everyone through that heartache? Maybe your life turned out great, but what about the poor parents that cant cope with being a parent.

  5. Dunno. Are 'abortionists' sensitive to murdering children?

    Who's next?

  6. Interesting point of view, I think you will find these anti-abortionists are also the people who believe that stem cell research is wrong,as is having a second child who would have the ability to save a sibling. If we do not research we stand still, and like the dinosaurs we get wiped out (in our case by disease) We need people who have such strong belief in God's plan (why let people suffer?) To confront their feelings and beliefs when it is their own child, family member that will die ONLY because it doesn't seem morally right to research? We need to assess the termination dates,do not allow it when it is possible for the child to be born naturally and survive, but other than that if a woman makes such a hard descision she should be left to deal with it without recriminations from others.

  7. Human life is important.

You keep asserting your ideology, that it is just a simple medical procedure. It is not. It is the taking of a life.

What exactly are the "facts" regarding foetal development?

You are wholly ignoring the social consequences of abortion on demand. Abortion has now become a day after the day after pill.

  8. yes they are, as are feminists. are you a feminist?

this is what i would like to know from pro life christians, what happened to my aborted children, did god let them into heaven of did he send them to h**l for eternity because they were not baptised?

  9. Sadly all people deserve medical treatment, even when they act like jerks.

Now I am not sure why hypocrisies you are speaking of exactly because you did not state them, but I would be more than happy to address them if you did.  I myself am pro choice but would never be able to have an abortion and understand well the reasoning many are against abortions.

  10. I share the sentiments of Tristan S wholeheartedly. Whenever I express similar sentiments I am usually deleted by the ever present right-wing fraternity who are stuck in a cold war mindset and continously think America is 'turning socialist'.

Only a mixture of backward religiosity and ingrained right-wing sentiments creates these people who are anti-everything unorthodox. They only use snippets of science in an attempt to bolster an ideologically twisted argument.

  11. I think we're all guilty of this to an extent. We all create a perspective on an issue based on what we want it to be. I don't think that we should ever deny people treatment, however much we disagree with their beliefs. I don't like the idea of my body being harvested for organs, but would I take a transplant if I needed it? Yes! Does that make me a hypocrite? Absolutely.

  12. A child who's life is taken is not  getting "medical treatment".

  13. This reminds me of how as a young and enthusiastic worker I would lose several days of pay to go on strike for better wages and conditions, leaving the scabs to do double shifts and get overtime.

Then, when the better pay and conditions were awarded, the scabs would be first in line with their hands out demanding their 'rights'.

But yeah, you fight for all, not just yourself so you can't say 'no', only hope that eventually they will see how they are hurting others by their attitude.

As for denial of (non life threatening) medical treatment, in NSW hospitals (where I live) anyone who threatens or is violent towards staff in a hospital is likely to find themselves in a nice warm gaol cell overnight.

No-one should have to put up with violent and threatening behaviour in their place of work, and they are entitled to protect themselves from it in the fittest way.

    Cheers :-)

  14. Yes, they are very sensitive.  In their mind morality, honesty, rationality, integrity and justice are irrelevant because OMG INNOCENT BABIES WAAAAAA NOOOOOO!!!

I like pointing out that generally speaking, anti-abortionists lean to the right.  And generally speaking, people who lean to the right oppose "socialist" programs that would make it easier for single moms to raise their children: job programs, free childcare, discoutned housing, etc.  All of this *is* available in the US but the stigma attached to it is huge - the same people who rip on a woman's right to choose vote down programs that would ENCOURAGE a young, single woman to carry her child!

They suggest adoption, even though most children don't actually get adopted out.  They end up wards of the state, who are more likely to become addicted to drugs, drop out of school, end up in jail or dead than the average kid.  What an existence!  Here's a thought: decrease spending toward things like bombs and make some decent orphanages.  Have programs for people who want to adopt that are government-subsidized that will make it more likely that they'll pass the often ridiculous requirements that they ask of adoptive parents.  Increase pay for teachers so good people can make more giving these kids a decent start than they'd make if they spent their days making double shot macchiatos at Starbucks.  Oh wait, that's socialism, and that's evil, according to them... here, just don't have s*x instead.  Yeah, that'll work.  We'll  even pull the plug on s*x ed just to make sure you don't get any ideas.

Now I'll just chill out and watch the thumbs down.

EDIT: thank you!  And I'm pretty amazed that as of now the thumbs up are outpacing the downs.  That's a first on this topic!

  15. Tristan S hit the bull's eye there!

Many (not all as I know some are exceptions) anti-abortionist are also anti-disability, anti-federal assistance, anti-reasonably priced heath care and some are even anti-birth control!

Come to think about it, some of them even remind me of my grandfather, whom's funeral I will not attend nor is he invited to my fiance and I's wedding!

Tristan S has my vote for best answer!

  16. For the "Anti" camp abortion is not about science - only ideology.

    They don't care about science.

    - Science says abortion is a medical procedure that is sometimes necessary,

    - The courts say the procedure is legal.

    - The ideologues... well you know what the ideologues have to say on the subject.

  17. they are usually anti-g*y aswell and I wonder if they might change thier minds on abortion if they could terminate unborn g*y's.

  18. no more than abortionists are about their hypocrisy - if anti abortionists are pro-life, why aren't abortionists pro DEATH? why do they ignore videos of fetuses writhing in pain when injected with saline solution? why do they gloss over what a D&C actually is - ignoring videos where a nurse actually has to piece the fetus back together to make sure that all the pieces of the cut up unborn baby have been vacuumed out completely? why do they skirt around the issue of killing life by trying to reframe the perspective about choice? what choice the baby have?

what chance do we have of getting honest answers to *THESE* questions?
