Are ants suicidal? Found in freezer compartment.?

Operational refrigerator in very hot garage. Freezer door apparently does not seal perfectly. Only sealed frozen vegetables in freezer compartment. Hundreds & hundreds of tiny ants entered freezer compartment only, roamed around and froze to death. We are completely flabbergasted. Never heard of such a thing.

Animals really do the strangest things at times... its like recently i went to asda and there were literally HUNDREDS of starlings just walking about the car park everywhere, inbetween cars etc... hwy they chose asda to have a convention at i have no idea! but they wouldn't fly... pahaps it was the air but it still doesn't explain why there were so many of them congregated around a busy asda car park and nowhere else...
