  1. I AM big oil/big coal....I'm a shareholder of both.  If you honestly believe they're making a fortune, let them make it for YOU.  I, on the other hand, know 10% annualize growth isn't going to make ANYONE rich over night....but compounded over 30 years...let's just say my visions of the future aren't nearly as dark and dreary as those predicted.

  2. Are any of the doom and gloomers Insane or on drugs ?

Dana's BS keeps cracking me up

  3. Who knows about the deniers  in here who work at ignoring the evidence about AGW ?  They could be anybody.

OTOH, there are no less than 43 Denier ORGANIZATIONS that have received big dollar contributions from Exxon-Mobil alone over the past 10 years or so.

The Union of Concerned Scientists has put out a report on Exxon's propaganda efforts on CO2 and climate change; if you're interested, you should also check out one of the links below from Greenpeace, which has done some pretty good web documentation of the different Denier groups receiving Exxon-Mobil money, and what these groups have done with it.

If you question any of the Greenpeace site's conclusions, you can click on the link to see what they're using for evidence.

BY THE WAY -- It isn't ONLY the big oil companies who have an interest in keeping Americans from getting concerned about CO2 emissions and climate change.

The big coal companies may have an even greater reason for denying the reality of CO2 and its contributions to global climate change.  The reason is that in terms of its heating value, coal produces even more CO2 when it's burned than petroleum products do.

What's more, there are big, big coal reserves that are still untapped in the US, Australia, Russia and China.

That means that as the world's oil supply runs short, and as oil prices rise, some of the big coal companies are hoping to strike rich paydirt as the nations of the world shift from oil burning to coal burning -- rather than, say, to solar energy or windpower.

Since coal is an even dirtier and more CO2-rich fuel than oil, however, the coal companies need to keep the public confused about just how dangerous a shift to coal will be.

For more information on this topic, go to your library or bookstore and get the book "BIG COAL," by American science writer Jeff Goodell.

  4. bush pays me big mojo to post on here and deny global warming.

  5. Most companies are interested in value for money.  If deniers in YA are being paid, they are probably making minimum wage in Hati.  I think that most proponents here would appreciate more of a challenge.  Please Exxon, pay your people more.

  6. Where would you sign up for that job? Does it pay a lot? It would be sweeeeet to get money from them.

  7. I highly doubt it.  The oil companies are flush with money.  They give hundreds of thousands of dollars on a yearly basis to right-wing think tanks to create believable misinformation on the subject.

To be blunt, deniers on YA just aren't smart enough.  The best they can do is say 'trust me, global warming has stopped!'.  I think if oil companies were going to fund people to disseminate misinformation on YA, they would make sure their employees would do a better job than the YA deniers do.  Heck, I could do a better job than the deniers do.  Their arguments are just too amateurish.

  8. One thing you never see from the self professed geniuses on this site. "Solutions", has vanity ever solved and environmental, or economical problems? Might as well set in the back of the bus with the rest of us. The only problem with showing your @ss, is everyone knows where to aim their foot.

  9. Denier here, but self-employed.

Big oil has nothing do do with the lies we hear on a daily basis.  Even Uncle Al has oil interests, now ain't that interesting.

  10. God NO!

Even big oil/big coal has minimum standards.

  11. I hate to break it to you, but the world isn't coming to end anytime soon - did you know humans only contribute to 1.8% of CO2 emissions - the rest is water vapor.

And h**l no to the big oil question.

  12. wow... "deniers"... we only look at the facts. There is no oil conspiracy to disseminate disinformation. even if there was, they would find better things to do than argue with people on Yahoo! Answers.

  13. No, but with the profits they are EARNING, I sure wish I was.

  14. Perhaps, you should ask yourself these questions before any others:

    • How did I form my opinion? based on logic and evaluation?

    • If so, did I do any research, read articles, books, listen to the main stream media, experts from government and non-government agencies, etc?

    • If I believe I did a reasonable amount of research, then I should be able to understand the following terms:

-Consensus decision-making (is it a scientific method?)

      -Truth or belief

      -Groupthink

      -System justification

    • Did I form my opinion based only upon conclusions that others have put placed in front of me and/or after watching 1 (perhaps 2) popular films?

    • If I did so,

-Should I try to understand the meaning of groupthink?

-How does it affect my process of evaluation?

-Is it a consequence of my denial, my lack of motivation to look above and beyond, my fear of the truth or what others think or say about me?

-Do I know where groupthink could lead me to?

after answering all these, read again the question you posted...

    cheers

  15. I am going to stick my neck and say no.  There is no big oil conspiracy.  That is largely made up by people on the left that reflexively demonize big oil.  Interestingly, they sometimes manage to get tobacco involved in the conspiracy.  I am guessing that WalMart is next.

  16. LMAO, yes and they are the one's saying they don't exist so they don't get shot for revealing themselves.

  17. Nope.  I don't even have one of their credit cards.

    Is Al Gore your employer?
