  1. i agree with Lou Lou,20 years and Ive never even heard of one of us or another tampering with food!no professional with one shred on decency would ever do that ,urban legend,my friends.

  2. No because because i've seen my dad give the food back if it's not cooked right and they do take it back  there is nothing to be afriad of.

  3. I rarely do unless it is chicken or pork and is undercooked then I do for sure. I think it is how you approach the situation. I'm not rude to the server, after all they didn't cook it, I don't make a scene like some might and to be quite honest I've never considered someone might spit in my food. I can understand the temptation though after witnessing some people's behaviour.

  4. yes, iam

  5. just be nice about its the a******s that get the special treatment trust me if the bus boys let the cooks know how mean you were your going to get something extra free of charge i had some cooks tell me if someone gave me a hard time about the food to let them know to make sure the food got messed with so i know... i would but ill be nice about it

  6. um, i would like to know some of those stories Quiet...

    i eat out ALOT!!!

    YIKES!!!

  7. I worked in restaurants for years. Usually nicer restaurants or chain/corporate restaurants don't experience that sort of thing, but it certainly can happen and happens a lot more in the independent, less classy esetablishments. (i.e. Joe Shmoe's Diner)

The key thing is, and a few other people's answers mention this, but I'll say it again, it's all about how politely you send it back!! The nicer you are, the less chance of someone messing with your food.  As a server I'd always feel terrible if someone got food that wasn't cooked properly and I'd do my best to make sure they were happy with their meal.

  8. If it's not cooked properly, I send it back. If you're dining in a decent restaurant, they will honor your request.

  9. I only send things back if it was not what I asked for. People make mistakes and you want to give them the oppourtunity to correct it. I am always nice because there is no reason to be pissed off and upset. It was a mistake.  Real chefs would never do anything to your food. Real chefs have true passion for what they do, and would never do anything to ruin what they just created. Give people a little more credit.  Maybe in low class restaurants where the cooks are teenagers working after school or something, but not real, respectable chefs.

  10. I'm not a ***** about it, but I would have it sent back everytime.  This is especially when I'm dining out with my baby-which is often.

It's important to teach her to be assertive.  Why pay to sit there like a punk and eat food that you didn't order?

  11. it depends how expensive the meal. the more expensive, the less i complain. reason being, if an expensive meal tastes bad, i feel like it's my fault. where as, a cheap meal the cooks spend like 3 minutes on, so what do i care

  12. I have done it before but only because one can get sick for eating uncooked food. Also when I do ask them to take it back and redo it I ask nicely and I say sorry.

Most of the time they are very nice about it.

I know that if I was a waiter and someone was mean to me because the food was messed up I would mess with it. lol

    Maybe I dont know.

  13. Worse thing you can do is make someone mad who handles your food. Meaning waiter, bus boy or cook.

Does bad things happen every time, no. Are your odds high, specially if its been a busy, hectic day, oh yea.

I use to work in food for 10 some yrs as mgt. I could tell you stories for hours.

  14. 20 years experience, never seen anyone mess with anyones food. Please ask nicely, though. your server didn't COOK it...and if it's a decent restaurant, we really do want you to be happy. We need return customers...

  15. Yes i always send my food back if it is not cooked correctly but it is the way that you handle this without causing a major fuss! I am a chef for 36 years and 5 of my sons are also chefs. We all work hard for our money and shouldn't have to pay for bad food!

I have never seen any of the so called horror stories that are often circulated round when food is returned to the chefs in the kitchen!
