I have endometriosis and sometimes worry about not being able to have kids. Are you or do you know anyone who has had bad endometriosis or horrible periods and were able to conceive/carry and have a healthy baby?

Real life stories will really make me look forward to the possibility of me being able to have my own child one day!

Thank you

  1. Im 20 years old and was diagnosed at 16 with endometreosis. Ive had severe period so bad that even when on birth control I would hemmorage. I got off birth control about a year ago now and my periods got so much better and I didnt have any major issues with ovarian cysts like before and Im now 4 months pregnant and its been great I had the same fears I didnt think I could get pregnant but I have but I still worry every day and I hope for a Happy Healthy Safe Pregnancy everyday I got to hear my babys heartbeat yesterday and it was so sureal I loved every minute of it I was smiling from ear to ear and it has a healthy heart rate of 160 beats per minute.

  2. I have endometriosis - it's not terrible but it is there.

For me it did not affect my fertility. I got pregnant the first month of trying and my baby is very healthy now at 24 weeks. I have not had any problems.

I was very worried when I started thinking I wanted children. I knew endo could cause infertility and my OB/GYN told me that while it does it doesn't mean I could never get pregnant. 30% of a women have a problem getting pregnant but 70% have normal fertility. It also doesn't matter as much how bad your endo is (what stage) but where exactly it is located.

  3. I was diagnosed with endometriosis by laprascopic surgery when I was 18.  I had my first when I was 21 and my second at 29.

    Good Luck!

  4. I was told I have Endo, but yet they have never done a Laproscopy to determine that for sure. I also have a retroverted uterus on top of that. I got pregnant two months after my husband and I decided we wanted to try. I actually didn't think it was going to happen so fast, so in a way it was a planned unexpected pregnancy...if that makes sense.  Depending on how bad of scarring you can still have kids. Just don't let that get to you, if you want kids then just pray that you will get pregnant and believe it!!!

  5. I have endometriosis, and had to have very large "chocolate cysts" removed from my ovaries.  Got pregnant easily once and had an easy pregnancy.  Unfortunately I never got pregnant again.

  6. Right here!

In October 2007, we had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. In January 2008, we had another one. In February 2008, I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. I was told I wouldn't conceive and carry on my own without medical assistance and that I'd need a hysterectomy by my 24th birthday. I'm 22. Pretty discouraging.

So, imagine our surprise when the day I'm meant to start birth control as endometriosis treatment, in an attempt to give my future pregnancies a higher chance at making it to term, I get a positive pregnancy test.

6 weeks rolls around and I have an ultrasound. There is only a gestational sac, no yolk sac, no baby, no heartbeat. Still, I'm not bleeding. Despite what my doctor recommends, which is a D&C because "this pregnancy is not going to work anyway", I decided that if the pregnancy were meant to fail, it would pass on its own. Besides, I didn't see my daughter until 6w4d.

6 weeks 3 days, we finally see a sac, a yolk sac, a baby and a beating heart. Doctor still recommends a D&C because again, the pregnancy won't work because of the endometriosis. This time, uterine fibroids are also found. Again, I told him that if it's not meant to work, it'll pass on it's own.

I'll be 25 weeks pregnant with a baby boy on Saturday.

It's harder to become pregnant and keep the pregnancy, but it is not impossible to become pregnant.

    Good luck!

  7. Yes, I have had endometriosis since I 1991. I was told to have a child then, when I was 18 or to have a hysterectomy. I did not listen. I had horrible pain and bad periods. I tried to get pregnant for 5 years with no luck, then I had the endo cleaned out by laproscopy, and 5 months later...... I now have a wonderful happy healthy baby girl who is 11 months old and I had no issues at all with my pregnancy. I am a firm believer that the laproscopy did the trick, it was only day surgery and it was well worth. It will happen, don't worry!!!!
