Yes most of the shops are open from 9.30.I Hear they are giving out free wine and champain to encourage people to spend more. I only hope you were not waiting too long.

I dont know for sure, but around where I live (london outskirts) shops are open as normal...however they open at between 10&11.

I would persume oxford street shops will be.

yes - LOndon only really closes down on X-Mas day but a little other gem for clothing /fashion/ shoes is  Dray Walk which is off 91 Brick Lane - very cool shops and easy to get to - much better than boring Oxford street
