Yeah all sterling notes and coins (no matter if it's Northern Irish, Scottish, Welsh or English) are excepted in all of the UK.

Oh and btw Scotland is on the British mainland (and northern Ireland is not part of Britain)

You will find many places in England refusing sterling from Scotland and Northern Ireland tho I have found no problems in Scotland with NI notes and no problems in Blackpool at all with either.

Now that is my experience so I can't talk for anyone elses opinions here.

The money is legal but you will find it hard to spend it as most won't take it.

If you pull a wad of Scottish £100 pound notes out of your pocket, like a guy did in a club I worked in a few years ago, you might get some sceptical looks.  They are real, but Bank of England notes only go up to £50, and most people have never heard of them.

I should explain about 'Legal Tender'.   The fact is, Scottish banknotes are not 'Legal Tender' even in Scotland.   More surprising,  Bank of England copper coins are not 'Legal Tender' above about 30p or something.

Legal Tender is stuff you are OBLIGED to accept in settlement of a debt.   This means that the smart-alecks who try and annoy the council by paying their rates bill with a ton of 1p coins are fooling only themselves, because if the council accounts department was aware of it, they could legally demand banknotes instead.  Only Bank of England notes are actually 'Legal Tender', but you can bet your last dollar that if you wave Scottish notes at people in most businesses they will be snapped up just like any other real money.

Northern irish banks print their own money with the banks name on it, if it has the name of a bank on it i think it is not acceptable on mainland, if it is an ordinary sterling note then yes it is.

Nope any currency that is sterling can be accepted in Britian regardless i will say though that some places in the south wont take it cause they are ignorant scum but as long as its pound sterling they must take it.

They are legal tender all over the UK, but you would need to go to a bank in England to exchange them. There should be no currency conversion charge applied.
