  1. It probably varies store to store.  If the natural foods stores near you don't carry them, you'll have to ask.  However, unless they have enough demand for gelatin-free marshmallows, they probably won't carry them.

  2. never heard of them!

  3. Hey.

I haven't seen any in Holland and Barrett, or fodder near me, (I'm in Hereford), but you will definitely find some online. You can still get vegetarian gummy bears and loads more vegetarian/vegan food in your local health store though.

Or you could always try making some.

    There's a recipe here - http://www.vegout.info/recipe_show.php?t...

    Good luck.

  4. Gelatin is NOT vegetarian.   It's actually pretty gross how they make it, too.  It's from ANY collagen containing part of ANY animal.   They take the parts of an animal you wouldn't normally eat (such as cow hide) and boil it for a long period of time to extract the collagen.    It's not a pretty thing to see or smell!

Anyway, yes, the brands in many grocery stores may contain gelatin.   Read the back of the bag to find out.   You may have better luck looking at your natrual foods store.

The thing about a prepackaged grocery store food like a marshmallow is that they substitute real ingredients for cheap facilmilies.   In place of real marshmallow extract, gelatin is one ingredient added to make "fake" marshmallows.

  5. Gelatin is not vegetarian. Vegetarians don't eat slaughter by-products, so if you have to kill the animal to get it, it's not vegetarian.

I wish they sold them in stores, but I haven't seen them around here.

  6. i asked this a couple days ago and got nothing, if you have a local health food store you can ask them to order em, thats what im gonna probably do.

  7. i think you mean vegan* marshmallows. Vegetarians eat regular marshmallows. Marshmallows carry the ingredient Gelatin (which is ground up animal bones) therefore it has animal product in it making it non vegan.

At whole foods I buy Ricemellow Fluff (its a marshmallow cream) see the first link below. Or you can just order them online at the second link below

    see! there is hope!

    enjoy!

  8. Get "real" marshmallows made from mallow root.  You could probably find them at any high end grocery store that specializes in gourmet foods and imports or go to Whole Foods or find a health food store.

  9. whatt?? im a vegetarian and i eat marshmallows
