I currently live in California where earthquakes are a major issue as many of you know.

And just yesterday, I experienced a 4.4 earthquake !

(I live around orange county- fullerton)

anyways, I'm living in a apartment downfloor the very bottom floor in the 3 stories building. I was wondering is it the safest from the earthquake better than the 3rd/2nd floor ?

And if possible to answer, are houses safer during earthquakes than apartments?

  1. Safest place would be in a basement.

  2. No.

Apartments are more dangerous to be in more than houses because you get more stuff colopsing on you. It is best to be outside and away from bulidings. But, still if you are in a house you still aren't safe.

  3. The only advantage is if you feel it in initial stage you can move to open ground if you are in ground floor.

  4. It depends on how each structure was built.
