  1. No! Study after study has shown that watching television of any kind -- even supposedly "educational" DVDs -- is harmful to babies and toddlers. It is often linked with ADD and ADHD. Toddlers should be playing and exploring and spending time with parents, not sitting in front of a television.

  2. I don't think they are necessarily harmful....unless of course there's no balance.  I do believe however that real books and some real life one on one is the best way to teach your kid.  Kids need to learn to love to read and not be over-stimulated with so much technology.  I think that's way we have so many ADD/ADHD kids in the classroom.

  3. My Grandson watched some of the Baby Einstein DVD's. He liked some and seemed to get some good from them. I still liked the Sesame Street education programs from when my children were little the best.

  4. I am partial to Baby Einstein  (the older ones) and Leapfrog movies in moderation.  Leapfrog does a great job of introducing the alphabet and sounds in Letter Factory.

  5. I personally am a fan of Baby First TV.  Unlike Baby einstein, there is tons of words and vocabulary included in the shows.  They also have pop-ups on the screen that suggests how to interact with your child during that particular program.

My daughter has been watching it with me since infancy and I can tell how she is growing up and getting smarter because a certain program that entertained her before won't phase her now.  She is into more grown up ones.

We like to sit and watch certain shows together and interact with each other.  I think this is the key.  If you spend time with them in front of the television and turn it into a game, they will learn more.

She does occasionally watch it herself, but this is only for a little bit of time.  Most often, we watch together.

    Hope this helps!

--Their site will tell you all the research that has been done on their program and how it affects the learning abilities of children.

  6. They bother me and I wouldn't let my baby watch them. I mean, they are babies! I can teach my kids the alphabet myself.
