Are baby boys more active than baby girls or does it depend on the baby?

my son has never been the type to like being held, he is very active and wants to explore everything (even when he was younger he would lie there constantly moving his arms and legs). he is not the "mellow" type who sits there and is content just sitting.

he is now 7.5 months and crawling and i can barely hold him anymore he just wants to be on the floor crawling and exploring. if i do hold him he will not sit still he is grabbing for things constantly.

i know 2 baby girls around the same age who are so mellow and just sit in their strollers or on the mom's lap and they interact but they are just way more mellow and content to just hang out.

i wondered is this a boy/girl thing or just a personality thing?

  1. Gross motor development does not differ in males and females.I think your baby has got excellent gross motor and mental development.Every mother has to check up the babys development month by month at least in a vague manner or consult your pediatrition whenever you take him to the doctor.I have found out a site which gives almost excellent development mile stones which you can crosscheck

    http://www.ourwebclinic.com/

please forward this site to all your friends so that they can also refer this site to watch their childs growth.Any minor difference in the mile stones can be detected very early and if any corrective steps are required  can be taken.

  2. my girl never sit still my son loves to be held

  3. Who knows my DS is very adventurous, like yours, he likes to explore. But my DD is the vocalist one. She isn't fussy, she just likes to scream or "sing" she's content with just laying in one spot, but not quietly :D

  4. While boys seem to be a bit more rambunctious than girls, I think this is personality rather than gender.

  5. There is a common belief that boys are more active in the mother's womb as well as after they were born. But there are some girls who are more hyper than most boys and some baby boys are more mellow than baby girls. But they both tend to grow out of their hyper or hypo activity. I have a niece who was so active that when she was playing with her cousin brothers and climbing trees, she would climb fastest and highest. But now she has become a very refined and beautiful young girl. So  there is nothing to worry about your baby will grow out of it.

  6. just a personality thing, my niece is very active and hates being held, my daughter is also pretty active, she never sits still, always reaching for things

  7. not with my kids! i have one boy and one girl and they both were/are very active!

  8. I think its more of a personality thing....I have 3 daughters and they were all very different....my youngest is just like your son, always moving and into things....my oldest cried alot, and my middle one was really mellow.

  9. It usually is a baby thing, different babies have different personialities, although i read an article on CNN, which is more trouble to raise, and boy or a girl. In the early stages in life boys are harder to handle because usally they tend to be more active, and willing to try more things. (Usually they get hurt and you have to watch them more then girls) but girls are more difficult in later life because of their self imagine issues...etc.

  10. The girls i knew are normally quiet and content sitting, watching the world goes by.  but my son is totally like yours.  he moves and kick.  It's very difficult to hold him at 3 months right now.  and he also wants constants attention, and people talking to him.

  11. That's just a myth. Baby's attitude depend on his/her personality. Their attitude deffer as much as the adult, it has nothing to do with gender.
