we took our 5 month old swimming for the first time today and he loved it - he will start proper lessons at 6 months - has anyone used a baby wetsuit - are they worthwhile and of any benefit to the baby?

  1. I have. They really suck. They make the child very cold aftr they get out of the pool. They also slow the baby down in the water.

  2. Completely unnecessary in a heated swimming pool, particularly a baby pool where the temperature is adjusted accordingly. If the water is sufficiently cold (the ocean) to need a wetsuit then the baby should be nowhere near it.

  3. IT depends. If the water is colder than like 65, your child may need it. However, it may get in the way of swimming. Also, babies grow very fast and my outgrow wetsuit after wetsuit. Its up to you.

By the way, babies can get cold easier.

  4. I've never used one. Consider these things: Depending on how often you go to the water depends on how much you will use it. Also, the wetsuits can get a little pricey and your baby is still growing.
