Are bag pipes hard to play?

You start with the practice chanter- you blow in one end and work the fingers to get the notes. That gives you the musical end. Don't try teaching yourself - my brother tried and had to unlearn everything when he got a proper tutor.

Once you've mastered that, you get to the pipes, and there's an extra set of skills to learn - you have to use your elbow to keep the bag at a constant tension to get consistent music, while blowing in the end and playing your tune at the same time.
