Are ball pythons illegal in upsate new york?

Question

I plan on moving from florida to upstate new york, and i need to know if i need a permit or if all together need to find a new place to live. My boyfriend has had friends that have ball pythons upstate, but i was still curious.

You would want to check with the actual city you plan to live in, but, in general they are legal in NY state..

Or, you could just not mention it to anyone as they don't exactly check your house to see what you have..lol

i have not heard anything to indicate that they are, they are legal on long island, so ill assume upstate would be no different. the problems with legality are within New York City, and the ban on animals deemed "dangerous" by the department of health (some with good reason...others not so much)
