  1. yes honey, bananas are a fruit

  2. The weird thing is, bananas are about 80% water and yet, they are no where near as juicy as an orange which is only about 58% water. Bananas do have seeds. Cut a slice of banana and you will see small browny black sports. They are seeds, just VERY small.

Lastly, some banana trees do have flowers, but only in tropical areas.

  3. Yes of course they are fruits mate.......just banana shaped ones! Yeah you are right they are different but hey don't challenge the banana.......it has magical powers!

  4. yes, they are weird

  5. yes

  6. Yes, Bananas are fruits which do not have seeds of the type you can sow! (You might have seen black dots in the centre of the bananas which are actually the seeds.) But banana trees grow in clusters with new ones coming up beside a mother plant before the mother dies. As soon as the tree gives several bunches of bananas, its life is over and it dies.

Most of the parts of a banana tree are useful; the leaf is used as picnic plates or even for regular meals in some countries. They are also used as bed spreads in patients with burns and skin diseases to prevent the raw skin from sticking to the bed and also to prevent infection.  The blossom hanging at the end of the bunch is also edible after the stamen and other parts are removed. The core of the main stem too can be cooked and is quite tasty. Certain varieties of raw bananas can be fried into chips like potatoes.

Bananas are rich in potassium & phosphorus, apart from calcium, magnesium, manganese and vitamin C. It is however high in calories (almost a calorie per gram of the fruit) and hence persons with diabetes should be careful in taking this. They have very low fat content and zero cholesterol. Babies can digest them as early as the third month. Certain varieties are also good for treating child hood stomach upsets. The fruit is prescribed for gout, a type of arthritis, both for constipation & diarrhoea, indigestion, eczema, hypertension, and even insomnia.

Yes of course it has flowers. All banana bunches come from several rows of flowers, each row of flower being covered by a flap; the flap opens as soon as the earlier row turns into a bunch of small bananas, allowing the next row to convert into a bunch. A google 'images' search will throw up several views of  these flowers. After the last bunch of bananas come up, the remaining flowers just wither away, unless you pluck and cook the lot.

  7. they do have seeds and they also have flowers on the plant as do all fruit trees but they are just not large or obvious. Just like all flowering plants have fruits. But most are so tiny you can't see them or they are hidden under the flower.

  8. The banana is a fruit, but they are indeed weird. Wild bananas DO have seeds - The kind we eat, the only edible type, does not have seeds in the banana.

  9. yer they are. if your thinkin fruits have pips and bananas dont. take a bite out of a banana and look into the midle there should be going all the way down it circles of tintu black dots there the pips.

  10. I have a question in return: do people ever actually search for questions before posting their own? People keep posting the same five or so questions over and over again, with one of them being "is a banana a fruit?" That could be saved by just typing the question into the "Search for questions:" box near the top of the page... :)

  11. yes..........

  12. Bananas are seedless fruits since they are developed due to parthenocarpy. The stimulus of pollination is enough to trigger the growth of the fruit. Banana is a triploid so it cannot bear the seeds.

  13. NO, banana is not a fruit... its classified as an herb... And matured bananas do have seeds.... its stem is herbaceus...
