Are barnacles poisonous?

I went to my friends house and got scramed by a barnacle is it poisonous

  1. No.I touched one in Monterey Bay aquarium.But when U eat it is quite toxic(poisonous)


  2. They may accumulate toxins from the water around them, but they don't produce venom.  In captivity, they should be harmless.

    Once the barnacle itself has died and rotted away, the shell or house or whatever it's called is just a calcium carbonate cup and is not poisonous.  It might be dirty and thus prone to cause infections, but that's about it.

  3. Yes, because they accumulate fantastic concentrations of poisonous metals such as cadmium, zinc, lead and copper.
