Are bike racks safe on highways for long distances??

I never follow cars with bike racks when I'm on my motorcycle.

Yes, they're safe, if the proper manufacturer's cargo devices are installed.  Check with your dealer, and get the right equipment.  I have a Subaru Outback, and have the ability to put a rack on top of the car, although that would look kinda cheesy  lol

Yes they are very safe as long as you used the correct one that is made for the vehicle and the bikes are secured correctly..
