Are bikes allowed on greyhound busses? (in the us, portland to seattle)

i'm going to stay overnight and we need a way of getting around and i couldn't find bike rental places so we wanna see if we can bring our own.

  1. you have to put them in a box, specifically a bike box, which you can buy there, but the other more easy solution is too take amtrak it is only 5 extra dollars for the bike and you dont need to box it up they have room for the bikes in the baggage  area


  2. I wouldnt use Greyhound but suggsst you use amtrak

    as they will allow bikes on the train unboxed

    The Amtrak Cascades (which runs between Eugene OR and Vancouver BC) is almost always on time. When taking the train to Portland, the key is to make sure you are on one of the "Cascades" trains (NEVER the Starlight).

    The other benefit of the Amtrak Cascades trains, is that you can bring your bicycle (unboxed) on the train for a small ($5) fee. Great for taking your transportation with you.

  3. You should be able to check them as baggage.  You should probably contact Greyhound to be sure.  I know you can check bikes on AMTRAK trains.
