Are biodegradable bags a solution to our environment?

what im tryna say is that, are biodegradable bags safe for our environment? and do they contain any poisonous chemicals or something?

What are the inks made of on the bag? Bags are usually imprinted with the store logo and other information. Pigments are often made from heavy metals, so where do they go after the bag has decomposed? Biodegradable bags are still better than the non-degradable, but reduce and reuse. I have hemp fiber shopping bags which I use instead of taking new ones every time I go to the store.
