  1. Yes as long as the bird is cleared for any potentially harmful diseases by a vet then I dont see why they wouldnt make a great pet. Also the bird might be nippy at first so I would keep it away from your stomach until its tamed. Also research well into the bird your wanting to get you dont want to regret buying the bird later.

  2. It depends on whether you are allergic to it. If it does not, i don't see the problem why not.

  3. ask your doc about being in contact with fecal matter because you will being contact with it quite a bit. other than having the bird screened for bacterial infections and parasites i doubt there would be any problems.

  4. Sure, I've never heard of any problem with birds and pregnant women.

Except I did hear a country superstition that poultry chicks will die if they see a drunk or a pregnant woman; that's why they are kept inside a barn.  Nothing to do with protecting them from hawks or foxes or coyotes, I'm sure.

  5. I don't see why not. If you're really concerned, ask a doctor.

  6. I would say Yes.  Get a new bird checked by a vet and given a clean bill of health.  Check for parasites..... Common sense rules applied of course.  Wash your hand....  Do a search or ask a doctor for sure
