Question:

Are black people and white people the same, but just a different color?

There seems to be too many differences between black and white people for the difference just to be in the color. I don't think it's cultural either; it seems innate. I'd be interested to get other people's opinions on it

  1. Race is a social creation, so your hypothesis is highly unlikely.

  2. We're the same. We purposely separate ourselves and others now, that's why. What she said above was a perfect example. A person isn't different because of their race.

  3. I'm really baffled by your question..All people are really the same as far as being human. We bleed the same, get pregnant and give birth the same, become ill, eat, sleep, etc. What do you mean? Of course there are other differences as well but what exactly do you mean innate? If you took a black or white baby and raised them with the parents of a different race, that baby wouldn't know any difference until it grew up and learned form others how to be prejudiced. Again, what exactly do you mean? Please elaborate.

  4. I think that culture has a lot to do with it. I learned in my Sociology class that out of all the groups of people in the US, African Americans have the lowest suicide rates and this is b/c they have a close knit social culture.  i admire this. i think it's really awesome and I think that's what a lot of white Americans are missing out on. Cultures such as Native American, Mexican, whatever, have their own traditions and cultures to feel a part of. Obviously, I'm generalizing a little bit, it depends on the individual. But, many white people don't really have that connection to anything, unless it's religion.

There are actual biological differences between people of different cultures.

black people age better (skin) than light skinned people, probably b/c of the melanin, but are more prone to certain diseases ( I saw the disease thing on Oprah, I don't remember the diseases, but it was when Dr. Oz was on). Sickle cell anemia occurs only in certain ethnicites, but not in whites. See below:

Sickle cell disease is a generic term for a group of genetic disorders characterized by the predominance of hemoglobin S (Hb S). These disorders include sickle cell anemia, the sickle beta thalassemia syndromes, and hemoglobinopathies in which Hb S is in association with another abnormal hemoglobin that not only can participate in the formation of hemoglobin polymers but also is present in sufficient concentration to enable the red cells to sickle. **The sickle cell disorders are found in people of African, Mediterranean, Indian, and Middle Eastern heritage. In the United States, these disorders are most commonly observed in African Americans and Hispanics from the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of South America.**

  5. I'm guessing you're beating around the bush and referring to genetic differences, right?  If that's what you're asking, then yes, there are differences.  Here, look:

In March 2003, investigators turned to Tony Frudakis, a molecular biologist who said he could determine the suspect's race by analyzing his DNA. Uncertain about the science, the police asked Frudakis to take a blind test: They sent him DNA swabs from 20 people to see if he could identify their races. He nailed every one.

100% accuracy.  Science can't measure what doesn't exist, or what's just a social construct, so obviously there are differences.  How those differences factor in to real world performance is anyone's guess, though, as the PC brigade says it's racist to discuss such things.

  6. well

black people always have a different life style

it is mich harder for them to live life like white people

a majority of white people have great opportunities in life but black people dont get much opportunities.

i think black people act different from white people as of language and they actions on handling things

  7. No.  Blacks tend to be less intelligent and more prone to criminal behavior.  Over 20% of non college educated blacks are in jail right now.  The average black IQ is 85, the average white IQ is 101.

Conversely, blacks are superior athletes on average.  Black people really run a lot faster than any other race, check out the Olympics, Usain Bolt, he runs faster than anyone in history, and he does it easily, and he clearly very dark skinned.

Whites on average are smarter, black on average are faster runners.  That is the difference.  People that say race is a social construct are denying the OBVIOUS.  Its all been studied and documented and you can see it plain as day in Olympic sprints or by looking into a classroom at Harvard.

  8. Nope and never will cause i can run fast, play ball, rap, and dance at the same time.

  9. the difference is the way they look at life, and history has caused all this, white ppl have a different aspect same as blacks, lets hope it wont be that way 4 generations from now..

  10. There are many differences within white people as well, remember some whites have brown hair, red hair and so forth, we as people made the decision to separate and make assumptions based on skin color, nose shape, hair texture and eye shape. There really is no logic to distinguishing so called racial differences.

  11. Ya what? LMAO. God people on here can be stupid. No we are the SAME, humans are the SAME, nothing different, just skin pigmentation. Guess its like a white tiger and an orange tiger. Same thing just different skin colour :).

  12. A few hundred years ago, some people used to believe that there were "real differences" between black and white people. However, that thesis was disproven by the English scientific community by the 1940's.

Be very careful with your assumptions, it's a slippery slope from what you're thinking now to "If there are innate differences, one must be inherently better than the other..." and then you have slavery/colonialism/apartheid/genocide/h... on your hands. An ugly, ugly, ignorant thing.

We're all the same. We treat each other differently, which in turn makes us act differently. Talk to your science teacher, s/he'll tell you that underneath the history and the culture and the prejudice and the clothing and the skin color, we are all the same.

  13. Genetically, the differences between ethnic(only one race-human, the subspecies Homo sapiens sapiens to be exact) groups is less than 1/2 of 1%.Most people actually have a genetic difference slightly higher than this among their own ethnicity.
