  1. If Hatains are mixed then its safe to say everyone is mixed.

  2. Most that I've seen are pure black, as if they were from Africa.  But they do have variations or mulatto and hispanic.

  3. these answers are not very accurate i live in haiti and can tell you that there is a portion of the populace that is mixed, 92-93 percent are pure black african but there is a portion called marbous that is mixed with black and tanio indian and i would say close to 4 percent or so is mullato meaning black mixed with white mainly french decent and then there is a minority of whites and arabs as well as a small asian minority and some metizos,  so your answer is yes some are mixed but the majority is of mainly of pure african decent the minory of haiti is so small its hard to have the whole country mixed most haitians are pure african anncestory,

  4. The demographics of Haiti are like any other country on Earth.  Although 90% of the people are of African decent there are people from other races that call themselves Haitians.

    .

    I'm Franco-American.

  5. I would assume there is French genetic component to the blood line of the Haitian people.  The leaders had French surnames of  Duvalier (Papa Doc and Baby Doc) and the Clinton pick,Jean- Bertrand Aristide.  There is a more hope for the people of Haiti from Christian programs that are adding to the protein of the diet of the Haitian people. Of course,  we must hate the Christians as part of our duty as a college student in the U.S.

  6. anyone that is not pure african is mixed. no matter what country they live..

  7. Every black Person is African many don't acknowledge but no matter what island or country you was dropped off it and personally i think that its sad that many african Americans don't acknowledge their african roots. As far as haitian people being mixed, people do travel from island to island so there for a mixture is common plus DR is a gate away, so yeah there are some mixed people there but not all are mixed.

  8. Okay, i'm haitian and i can tell you that almost everyone who answered this question answered it wrong

Haiti is a culturally diverse nation with many different peoples of different origins.

However, most of the people here are descended at least partially from the african slaves. But stating that 92-93% of the people are "pure black" is a misnomer and an overstatement.

Most haitians are mixed to an extent, but only about 10% of haitians are Mulatto (have at least 50% white DNA) and a great number of mulattos live abroad today as a result of the political instability of the 80's

a good number of the black haitians, at least half, have some white ancestry (less than 15% white DNA usually) and about 15% of haitians have some Amerindian blood as well.

in addition to that, we also have lebanese and german families as well

In order to get an accurate grasp of the origins of haitian people, you gotta look at the ENTIRE haitian diaspora, not just the haitians who havent left. The Haitians expatriates are oftentimes more genetically diverse than the haitians still living on the island.

so i'd say about 10% of the Haitian population is mulatto, about 45% is black with some mixture, and about 45% is completely pure african

  9. i completely agree with lex diamond.

but like my family we're black, but our color is different from the people that are the same color we are.  the thing is, is that everybody got more than african in their ancestry. There is no such thing as pure african. Even the blckest sudanese person has a lighter color in thieir ancestry.it's hard to explain, but my mom is lighter than me. and her parents are ligheter than her and my great-grandma is a grimelle but her hair aint like one.

but you know something-i was born in Artibonite haiti.

i lived 7 years of my life in Haiti before i came here. I barely saw any white people, but a lot of grimelles, grimo's, and some mulato's.

But i didn'e really see a white person till i first came here.

I remember how long their nose's were and all that.

But just a couple of weeks ago, i was looking at something, and i was asking my dad-where all those white people came from. He was like-haiti

i mean i didnt know Haiti had a lot of white people. I lived most of my life in the country and came here when i was 7. so i only had like 4 years understanding stuff and all that.

There are more white and mixed people and other races in Haiti than 10%. But anyways, i do agree with lex diamond.

But all peopl's of this world are mixed. Everybody got at least one different color in their background then they are.

STill though the magority of haiti's population is dark skin/light skin rather than just 50%black and 50%white

  10. No they're pure african. Evidenced by the fact that haiti is the poorest most backward country in the western hemisphere.
