  1. not really, most art stores carry them. i don't know the exact price but i'd say you can a pack for under $5 easily. check out www.jerrysartarama.com they have several locations around the us if not most of their products can be ordered, if you sign up for their emails you can get great discount deals.

  2. no not at all. I don't know if its just me but i prefer blending with my fingers rather than the paper stumps.

  3. Yes and no.  If you use one infrequently, they really aren't much for just one.  Most art supply stores have them.  But if you wreck the tips and that's what you use, it's horrendous.  (Like $1 for one a month not so bad, or maybe it can last longer, but $1 a drawing is awful.)

Our pastels teacher provided styrofoam "peanut" packing - there are various designs, and some works better than others - but that often works quite well except for where you really need a point.  So - styrofoam bits for most of it, and a slender stump for tiny spaces, plus maybe a backup, and you should be set.

  4. Nah, they are pretty cheap. I personally dont really like them because its kinda hard to get a even consistancy.I prefer to use a soft paper towel or toilet paper.
