Are blu-ray dvds compatible with HD DVD players?

Just trying to find out if blu ray discs will play in a hd dvd player.

  2. No, you have to have a BluRay to play BluRay discs and an HD DVD player to play HD DVDs.

    FYI if you bought your HD-DVD player at Best Buy or Circuit City they're offering gift cards and stuff like that. Hope this helps!

  4. No, they are not compatible. Keep in mind that if you are thinking of buying a game system, it might be a good investment to buy a PS3 since it has the capability of playing Blu Ray discs.

  5. No, they are completely different, even though physically they look the same.

    As well, the last VCR tape was manufactured last year, and the last DVD disc will be made this year, so that is the end of DVD and VCR.  Blue Ray, although said to be inferior to DVD, is now going to be the mainstream and DVD and VCR are the "8-tracks" of entertainment and communication.

    This is just like Beta and VCR, where the superior Beta was replaced by the inferior VCR!!!!!
