In real world street fights or even MMA fights, is the body scissors technique, where one squeezes an opponent between the legs, ever viable as a submission move?

  1. noooo, bc the person doing the body scissors is setting himself up for an ankle lock, if the person getting scissored crosses his legs over urs and pushes down he has the person applying the move in an ankle lock , so i wouldn't do it, that one of the first things they teach in bjj never cross ur legs

  2. The body scissors technique keeps your opponent in striking distance for far too long in a streetfight. You are setting yourself up for pain.

In MMA fights, that technique is easily countered and passed.

If anything, this technique should only be used to get you quickly into position for something else. Don't count on it doing any damage to your opponent.

  3. I'd try to avoid it on the street.

Save that stuff for fights with rules.

  4. in a street fight no

the classic Brazilian jiu-jitsu  arm bar will never work in a street fight.

You leave your groin exposed while you are positioning their elbow right in line with your nuts, if they had any sense that would be an elbow to the balls right there.

these work in the ring because of the rules i.e no eye gouges, groin strike, chop to the throat, etc etc..
