  1. I live here in the tropics and bougainvilleas here are so common sometimes they become weeds.

They are easy to grow if you give them a lot of sunlight, good garden soil and water them everyday. They need to be pruned often to keep them bushy. They are woody vines and would crawl every where if you let them. They are also thorny so be careful. If you want them to stay small plant them in small pots or they may turn into a small tree.

  2. No.

    That's the short answer.

    The long answer is:

    NO.

Bougenvillias are a pain in the butt, unless you live in California or Hawaii.

  3. they arent too hard, bougainvilleas are tropical plants so need warm temps summers should have everyday or most days hitting 80 and nights above 55. you can take it in when temps go below about 55 during the night

water every other day and if temps go in the 90s water that day and every day temps reach or pass 90. also give it some plant food such as miracle gro about once evey two weeks

also watch out for thorns and prune the plant back if it gets too big

  4. They're great for container gardening, so long as it's not too hot. They will burn easily if shallow-planted in direct sun.

Otherwise-a great choice and easy to care for.

  5. nah, they grow like wildfire if you keep the water up.giving them a good pruning doesn't hurt, they seem to love it,did you know all bogie flowers are white, the colors are actually leaves.
