Are bottlenosed dolphins ever found off New York?

Are they ever spotted off the coasts of New York? I was on the coast the other day (Long Island) and there was a school of dolphins right off shore, but they weren't bottlenosed. To bottlenosed dolphins make it this far north?

They are. Bottlenose dolphins have a pretty broad range and during the summer, coastal bottlenose dolphins can be spotted as far north as Long Island.

What you likely saw was Atlantic White-sided dolphins, who make their home in the cool northern waters of the Atlantic.
