Are bratz dolls bad for girls?

I will not buy them for my girls.

They have Barbie's. And have a lot more fun playing with them than with their friends' Bratz.

They do give the wrong idea of what is proper dress tho. But then again so do Barbies dressed in skimpy outfits. That's why our dolls all have painted on swin suits and dress modestly (I make their clothes).

My daughter is 7 and has been getting those dolls and playing with them since she was 5.  I know she'll grow out of them soon enough. And no, it hasn't affected how she dresses or wants to look.  I grew up with skinny Barbie and all of her short dresses and skirts and my body image certainly wasn't affected by that.  Come on people, it's a flipping doll.

I think they teach little girls how to want to look s**y. I mean, Barbie was never that sl*tty! I never played with them because my mom refused to buy them.

Barbie is better than Bratz.

As long as the little girl understands that what the dolls wear is what grown ups wear and that they are playing pretend, then I do not think it matters.

Those dolls look like they have been modeled on prostitutes so I don't like the idea of young girls playing with them. They also have Bratz brand clothes that are far too revealing for children to be wearing.

I don't like the way the bratz dolls look. they look too s**y and they wear too much makeup. If I had a child, I wouldn't buy it for her.

I think they give off the wrong image to young girls.  My daughter is not allowed to have them and honestly, i'm not sure if there is an age where i would allow them.

Guy please take it from a little girl myself.I am 10.I do not like bratz babyz because the look like prostitutes.But my sister likes them and she is 5.I do not like there head size with there little bodies.anyway i never had a bad bodie image or how i wanted to dress even if we want to be a tad bit s**y,but in a good way

I think that the image bratz dolls portray is not good for young girls.  Girls (especially 6-12 year old girls) should not think that they need to dress s**y in order to be popular or happy.  I'll never forget one year when my daughter was about 8, two of her classmates were dressed like bratz for Halloween.  I thought that they were dressed up like hookers.  When I was in college dressing up like hookers was kind of the thing to do.  That is exactly how these two little girls looked.  I thought it was horrible and I couldn't believe that their mother's allowed them to leave the house looking like that.

All I have to say is, my daughter will never play with any type of toy/ doll that looks as if it is promoting prostitution and s*x.

They give off a bad image of what girls should dress like.  I wouldn't want my daughter thinking that dressing like a tramp is cool.  I think the dolls set very bad example.  And whats up with all their make up?

I think they teach girls how to be too s**y, too young.  The dolls are harmless, but it's the fact that the girls who own them want to look just like them.  I think it's just unnecessary.

I don't think I would want my children playing with them because they teach the kids that it's OK to look that way when they're five. Those dolls wear make up and skimpy clothes, I think that I would rather them play with Polly Pockets or Barbies.

I don't think the dolls are all that appropriately dressed but the movies are cute and my daughter loves all their stuff.  As long as she knows she cant dress like them till much older I don't have an issue.

Nope.  Not bad at all.  I think it all depends on how much emphasis parents put on those dolls.  We look NOTHING like Bratz dollz.  We don't have clothes like them or wear our makeup like them.  I really only think they're a problem if the parents make them a problem.

Bratz dollz are relatively cool actually.  No small shoes means that even my two year old can play with them.  Their feet snap off.  LOL
