This is my 3rd pregnancy and I do not remember having braxton hicks so early on, But my lower stomach is non stop tightening and it hurts a little too. I get them pretty often throughout the day. I know what the growing pains feel like and its two different feelings. Any suggestions?

  1. You have braxton hicks throughout your whole pregnancy, it's just a matter of when you can feel them. I don't think mine started quite that early, but very shortly after. I'd say mine started around 23 or 24 weeks and were also a bit painful. And yet I never went into labor on my own. I had to be induced. I would mention it to your OBGYN just to make sure, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about as long as they don't get stronger or regular.

  2. No. It's not normal at 18 weeks to have Braxton Hicks. Usually that doesn't start happening until around 30 weeks. Call your doctor and tell them what you are experiencing.

  3. I am 24 weeks and have had them now since about 18 weeks. I think it depends on the female and how sensitive you are. It can also depend on if this is your first, second or third child. This is my third so I am feeling a lot more. I am also older. I have seen my doctor and everything is fine. If your worried call your doctor and describe what they feel like? Most likely its normal! Since this is your third pregnancy I bet your just like me and are experiencing a whole new world of sensations. Relax and have fun being pregnant.

  4. my cousin started getting them at 16 weeks so I guess so

  5. Yes! I had TONS of BH in my 3rd pregnancy, it got really annoying. Make sure you're staying really hydrated to try and keep them at a minimum. Also, mine didn't do anything towards dilating my cervix -- I had to get induced. :oP Good luck and congrats on number 3!
