Are bridal shower invitations general less formal than wedding invitations?

We are having a bridal shower for a friend, and it is pretty casual and quirky...should the invitation reflect that? Or just because it is related to a wedding should the invitations automatically be very formal and classy and elegant?

I think the invitation should reflect the plans for the shower. It would just be weird if the invitations were really formal and it was a casual thing.

Even if the wedding is very formal, the events associated with the wedding, such as showers, can be simple and fun.

The invitation should reflect the nature of the event, not the wedding, unless you are having a single theme throughout.
