There are no Brown Bears, but there are brown bears.  Maine is home the the black bear (Ursus  americanus), but there are may color phases of them- black, blonde, cinnamon, brown, even blue (in western Canada).  The Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) is found on the Pacific rim.
