  1. Budgies are great pets

Bad things:they are messy eaters and its hard to train them if they are not hand reared, males can talk, they need a wide variety of food like budgie seeds and canary seeds grapes, berry's, carrots etc. but they all need to be organic a bunch of toys

Good things: they are good for beginner bird owners, they don't cost as much as other birds (~$20 to $30) they are as much fun as a macaw or parrot

  2. I have a budgie, but take my advice, leave them in the cage. Close the door to your room and turn off any fans and cover any windows with blinds (So they don't fly away, so they don't get chopped up, and so they don't smack into the window) and let the budgie out once or twice a day. We have our bird stay out of its cage like, forever and he poops everywhere. You need to have their nails and wings clipped every once in a while (please let the store do those things) and they have veins in their toenails.

  3. They are great pets but do make a mess when they sling their seeds around.

  4. Yes they are.

I had a couple. They can live to 15 years old if you take care of them.

They also like human contact. If you buy them when they are young, you can carry them and get them used to you.

They are tropical birds so they can easily die from cold weather. Keep the area above 80 degrees.

  5. Budgies are awesome pets! Sure they make messes, but so do cats, dogs, other birds, rabbits, hamsters.... need I continue? Yes, you can let them out of the cage. My mom lets hers out almost daily, and they are not even trained to sit on her finger. She has taught one to sit on a perch when she moves one near it, so she can put it back in the cage. Otherwise, they fly "home" when they are ready.

  6. they are great pets, if you don't mind a little noise and a few spilled seeds. a single budgie would only need their food refilled every few days (but they leave the shells in the dish sometimes, so go outside and blow lightly on the food to see how much is actually left!) water should be changed every other day, and the cage twice a month or once a week if possible. if you get one young enough you can train it to sit on your finger or shoulder, but they are nice just to add a little music to your home.

  7. yeah there great pets but a better bird for that is a lovebird they are more intelligent and look better than budgies

  8. I had a budgie since I was six and it was a great pet. BUT, you need to clean its cage every one or two days, the seeds go everywhere, when you let them out to fly they p**p on furniture and can be extremely noisy. Im not saying I regret having one or you shouldnt get one, but im saying that its a lot of longterm commitment. If you dont want to commit to having it for a while than I would suggest a different pet because birds need a lot of time put into taking care of them.
