  1. Bullet trains travel on tracks. But new maglev trains that the Japanese and Germans are currently testing float on the tracks thus eliminating most friction.


  2. The bullet trains in Japan actually use two opposite pole magnents one on the train and one on the rail and the forces of each oppose each other which causes the train to "float" above the track.
