  1. I wouldn't. I've owned rabbits for the past 18 years or so, and have never fed oats to any of my rabbits. They should be on a diet of rabbit pellets (the amount per day determined by the rabbit's weight/size), with vegetables/fruits occasionally.  They should also have a regular supply of timothy hay.

  2. Sure why not?

I'm sure Hugh doesn't restrict any bunny's diet.

  3. ask his vet

  4. No, that's not advisable.

  5. Sort of. While you should only give your bun pellets or "safe" fruits and veggies, some people give a *small* handful of oats as a treat from time to time. Plain oats are considered non toxic.

The concern is that oats will make your bunny overweight, which is NOT good.

So the textbook answer is no, but giving him a small amount from time to time shouldn't be a huge deal. In general, avoid fatty and high sugar store bought bunny treats as well.

Do not ever give your rabbit "human food" like boxed cereals, etc.

Lastly, if your bun has *mild* diarrhea (loose p**p), a few oats can help "dry it out". I've used it and it workds like a charm. Do be aware that severe or prolonged diarrhea can be rapidly fatal to a rabbit, so take him to the vet in this case. If it's watery, head to the vet.

    Good luck!

  6. Ask a vet or google  "rabbit food or diet"

People who get pets should make the effort to at least know the basics such a feeding before they acquire an animal. So many animals fill shelters and are euthanized because their owners don't know what to do with them beyond the "oh he's soooo cute!!" stage.

  7. just stay with bunny food

  8. I would say no.  You may get a better set of answers if you actually asked this in the right catagory though.
