Are c's good grades?

Iam a homeschool student with 2 courses left .I been getting C's in the begining i was getting A' and B's now iam getting C's is that good or bad.

C's are "acceptable".

It's not good that you used to get A's and B's and are now getting C's. What changed?

The grade is not as important as whether or not you are learning and understanding the course material.  If a "C" is what you get when you put in your best effort, then it's fine--because you are doing the best your can.

However, if you are getting a "C" because you aren't putting in your best effort, then you should try harder.  Only you know what your particular situation is, and if I were you, I would not take the remarks/comments others have made to heart; they do not know the specifics/particulars of your situation.

C's are supposed to be average, but public schools inflate grades nowadays, making C's look as bad a D's used to.  In homeschool curriculums the criteria is usually tougher, so someone who would get an A or B in Public School will often earn only a C in homeschool.  Find out the grading scale, there are two popular scales in use, in Public school 90% or more is an A, but in many private and on-line schools you ned a 94% to earn an A.

In college, a D is passing.  If you are trying your best and your making a C, then that is great.  These people that say that a C is a bad grade beacause of grade inflation do not know what you are studying and do not know what state your in.  California does not inflate grades as much as Mississippi.  So, don't listen to their ignorance.  A "C" in AP calculus is a respectable grade.

"C" is technically passing with an average grade.  It is neither good nor bad, but basically just "there".  It's not horrible, but it shows that you need to put more effort into your studies or get help with things you don't understand.

I wouldn't worry to much about the letter grade as I would learning the material very well.  Just keep going over would you learn and you will do just fine.

For a homeschooler, I would say a "C" is unacceptable, IF you are being taught at home [as opposed to taking online courses].  When I am teaching my kids, if they make below an 'A', then they have not learned the material to my satisfaction and we redo the chapter.

It also depends on which subject or subjects you are referring to, and what you intend to do with your life.  If you are making a 'C' in history, and are not going into a college major that relates to history, I wouldn't worry about it.  If you are making a 'C' in math or science and intend to go into engineering, then that is something to be concerned about.

If you are just trying to get a high school diploma then are going into some sort of other training program that is not like a college, then a 'C' is probably just fine.

Basically you have to consider the subject and your future plans before you decide whether a 'C' grade is acceptable or not.

Honestly, if you are doing your best, thats all you can do.  For some people a C is like an A.  They have worked so hard for that C, for others, not so good.  They are skating by.  I truly do not believe a grade proves knowledge.  It proves whether you test well and how well you can parrot what someone else has said but true knowledge is knowing how to apply what you have learned.  Real knowledge comes with complete understanding.

Many people are good at taking tests.   Good tests grades are not  necessarily an  indication of a well educated person.
