Are cable prices different depending on location?

They sure are......

We only have one cable company in town and they charge whatever they want, but one town 100 miles away has 4 companys (which compete with each other) and their cable price is half what ours is.

Your best deal would depend on what companys are in your area.  Most companys run specials during the summer because not as many people are home watching tv.  Check your local ads.

Of course cable costs differ from one market to another. I am not even sure why you would ask that question, but what you  need to do is find out which companies are available in your area and then conduct a survey. Many providers offer bundle discounts for cable, Internet and phone etc.

Then there is the idea of satellite. Maybe if you only have one cable provider, you could use them for comparison. I don't have any experience with satellite and have heard mixed reviews.
