I have members who don't want to receive discussion related e-mails and yet who want the automatic calendar reminders for events we post on the calendar. What is the best way to handle this situation?

  1. Calendar reminders are not handled as special notices in Yahoo groups.  Special Notices is an entirely different feature and not connected to the calendar.

Your members must receive group emails if they want to receive calendar reminders.  There is no way to differentiate between the two.  They can choose "No Mail" and read everything from the group's website.  If group owner has set the Calendar so it can be viewed by members, they can check the Events List if they want to see what's going on there and not receive messages/reminders.

  2. no they are not.

when you click the post tab on your group, and click the Special Notice box, that and only that is a special notice.

best way to handle this is I don't know since it more appears those members want to be web readers. they can still locate those reminders in the archives. or they can get all group mail and delete coversations right off and read the reminders
