Question:

Are calorie counting watches accurate?

From my understanding these watches track heart rate and then figure the number of calories burned. Is there a direct relationship between the two?

And how accurate is it? Can you keep it on all day and measure the total # of calories burned for that day?

Also where can I get an inexpensive (yet accurate) watch?

  1. More then i ever thought in my life. Its almost unbelievable. For insistence if i eat more then 1400 calories i gain exactly half a pound. happens every time!!!

  2. I have a Polar F6 heart monitor. The most accurate heart monitors are the ones that come with a chest strap.Your heart rate will dictate how many calories you will burn so the higher the heart rate the more calories are burnt. The heart monitors are great for giving you motivation to keep your heart in the right zone for exercising, you can tell by your heart rate if you working hard enough.

Yes you can keep them all day to track your calories burnt for the whole day.You can get heart rate monitors in Argos ranging from around £30 - whatever you wish to pay really.I got mine for £50 and I wouldn't be without it now.
