Are breads/carbohydrates bad for a person when they are drunk? I have heard that the sugars of carbohydrates make the person even more intoxicated. Is it better than to eat fats and proteins when consuming alcohol?

  1. Not necessarily, considering most alcoholic beverages are carbohydrate based (cocktails, wine, beer). The only adverse effect is when you consume a lot of carbohydrates while drunk, it is harder for the body to metabolize the alcohol. This usually means longer and larger hangovers. If you want to counter act alcohol, fat is the way to go. It absorbs and neutralizes alcohol in the stomach. This is why most people crave fatty food the morning after drinking.

  2. It doesn't make you "more drunk" but eating fats and proteins slows digestion more than carbs and will reduce the speed at which the alcohol you've already consumed is absorbed.
