  1. Not only are they really built like that, the auto industry is the business that invented production lines.  Henry Ford came up with it, and he said of the cars at the time "You can get any color you want....as long as it's black"  The reason for the black paint is that it dried faster than any other color.


  2. Yes. A few years ago I actually toured a local Fisher Body plant.

    I also know people who used t work there. (They tore it down - It's now a mall)

From most commercials I have seen it is pretty close,you got to realize if they are filming a commercial on the line it is not showing the actually jobs.They once filmed a commercial where I work and they stopped the line and gave a few workers things to do to the car but it wasn't actual jobs.They also film a lot of the robots and yes the body shop and paint shop is almost all robots with only a few robots on the trim and final assembly lines.
